Senior Director of Accounting

­­­­Garrett Brands is currently looking for a career minded and hands-on Senior Director, Accounting to lead the accounting function within our organization. The Senior Director, Accounting is the organization’s leader overseeing all accounting and internal controls processes, in addition to mentoring and training the accounting team. Reporting directly to SVP and member of the finance leadership team, this position is key to delivering accurate results while planning, directing, and coordinating all accounting operational functions. The ideal candidate as proven performance in scaling processes and has worked in a high growth environment.


· Supervise and mentor all accounting department staff; foster a culture of engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement; determine staffing requirements needed to support the organization’s business plans

· Oversee all aspects of accounting operations: AP, AR, cash management, inventory control, reconciliations of all GL and intercompany accounts, payroll, fixed asset tracking and management, tax, and general accounting

· Review monthly accounting close including analytical review of the monthly operating results

· Prepare GAAP-compliant quarterly and annual consolidating financial statements, including all eliminating entries

· Work with technology team to confirm ERP and other systems meet needs of accounting team and organization, and play a lead role in systems architecture transformation projects

· Lead the management of inventory valuation and related aspects of inventory accounting (e.g. assembly builds (kits), landed costs, inventory write-ups / write-downs, and supplier advance payments)

· Design and direct inventory control activities, including cycle count and physical inventory counts

· Collaborate with cross functional leaders to arrive at best-in-class processes and standards to ensure key inputs for close are completed efficiently and timely

· Anticipate and evaluate business needs to confirm financial organization and systems are resourced appropriately to support the organization’s growth; assess the accounting requirements related to new strategic initiatives and ensure timely and consistent financial reporting after implementing these initiatives

· Oversee and coordinate not only internal quarterly reviews with leadership, but also external annual audits by leading preparation of audit schedules and proving timely responses to audit requests

· Maintain the sales tax calculations, and reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis

· Partner with VP Sales to ensure promotional spend is accurately captured by auditing promotional contracts, validating trade deductions and activity, and accruing trade allowance spend in correct periods

Job Requirements:

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA preferred

· 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory experience

· Experience in manufacturing and retail industry, with strong understanding of inventory costing

· Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite a plus)

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

· Ability to multi-task and manage simultaneous priorities

· Strong organizational skills, autonomy, and high level of ownership

· A supportive leader and coach who inspires teams to solve problems and improve processes

· Proficient with software applications (Excel and PowerPoint) including the use of VLOOKUP, SUMIF, INDEX MATCH, TRIM, etc; as well as ambition to learn internal system
